EDWIN ALEXANDER CERQUERA-SOACHA
Edwin Alexander Cerquera-Soacha was born in Bogotá, Colombia, on August 12th 1978. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Antonio Nariño University in Bogotá in August of 2002. His undergraduate degree project was focused on the application of nonlinear dynamic techniques for analysis of electrocardiographic signals. In February of 2006 he received his M.Eng. in Industrial Automation from the National University of Colombia Manizales Headquarters; his M.Eng. project was oriented to the analysis of phonocardiographic signals for detection of cardiac murmurs. In July of 2010 he finished his doctoral studies at the Carl Von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany, in framework of the Ph.D. Program "Neurosensory Science and Systems". The grant for his doctoral research was provided by the ALECOL Program (DAAD- Antonio Nariño University-Icetex-Colciencias-MinEducación). The purpose of his doctoral thesis was evaluation of some coding hypothesis of the retina in order to reconstruct motion stimuli from extracellular multielectrode data. Actually, he works as Assistant Professor at the Faculty for Electronic and Biomedical Engineering at the Antonio Nariño University in Bogotá, as well as with the Research Group Complex Systems of this same institution.
